Which area of Sharm el-Sheikh should I stay in?

Naama Bay is the most walkable and has most of the nightlife. Nabq Bay is quieter, with long beaches and large all-inclusive resorts - good for families. Hadaba and Ras Um Sid sit on the cliffs with excellent shore diving and sunsets. Sharks Bay is the base for dive boats to Tiran. Old Market is where to go for local food at local prices.

When is the best time to visit Sharm el-Sheikh?

Sharm is a year-round destination. October to November and March to May are the most comfortable, with warm days and mild evenings. December to February is cooler and quieter but still sunny. June to August is very hot - best if you plan to spend the day in the water. The Red Sea stays warm enough to dive all year.

What is the diving like, and where should I go?

Sharm is one of the world's best-known diving destinations. Ras Mohammed National Park, at the tip of the peninsula, has the famous Shark and Yolanda reefs. The Straits of Tiran offer four major reefs reached by boat. For shore diving without a boat, Ras Um Sid and the Hadaba coast are a short taxi ride from most hotels. You will find dive centres listed under the diving category.
